SLOGANS
Would you like to be heard from? You can!
The voices of animals are silenced every day. But our voices will be heard, for them.
The slogans for the march can be found at this link. You can save the link or you can open it via the QR code we will distribute at the event.
DRESS CODE
Of course, you can always wear whatever you like. But we would like to ask you to wear red or black.
We will be selling our beautiful red ‘Close All Slaughterhouses’ and black ‘Bite Back’ shirts and hoodies at the Bite Back info stand. You can already purchase these in advance from our webshop.
Thanks!
EATING & DRINKING
As usual, we will provide delicious vegan food and refreshing drinks before and after the March!
We provide crispy sandwiches with seitan spread from Maya Seitan, with sausage from Greenway Foods and with various savoury homemade spreads 🥙 . A team of volunteers provides fresh vegan sausage bread and The Judgy Vegan bakes savoury snacks.
On the sweet side, you will find brownies from SAPPIG, cakes from Kato Gateaux and L’Insouciance, crisp-fresh coffee cakes, croissants and crookies from Succulente and Nona’s Bakery, and a wide range of cakes and cupcakes by our fantastic volunteers!
We can count on Funky Jungle, Lento, Liu Lin and Lil Bao for financial support!
(Huge thanks to our sponsors and volunteers for making this possible!)
We will carry chilled fair trade soft drinks and a limited amount of water. Be sure to provide your own bottle of water for during the march!
Will you buy something to eat or drink from us? Then we are extremely grateful to you, as the sale of these items will partly cover the costs of the march.
You can dispose of your waste in the waste bins provided.
Bring your own reusable boxes if you like to bring pastries!
ACCESSIBILITY & SAFE SPACE
The route of the March is about 3 km and follows Brussels streets. It is accessible to wheelchair users. We will walk slowly, as is appropriate for a protest march. If you need help before, during or after the March, please ask our stewards (in the yellow vests with ‘animal crime unit’).
Before we start the March, there will be speeches and a practical explanation. If listening is not an option for you, we provide a QR code at the Bite Back stand where you will find the spoken words in a written version.
There will be a SAFE SPACE and info point at the Bite Back stand before and after the march. If you have any questions or feel unsafe or unwell, please go to the designated area. If you experience these feelings during the march, please make your way to one of our stewards, they will direct you to our “safe space person”. Remember, no hatred or violence of any kind is allowed on our march!
The march starts and ends at the Europe Crossroads in Brussels, which is the square directly opposite the Brussels-Central train station. We advise you to come by train or take another form of public transport. Right next to the square is a park & ride, where you can drop someone off with your car.
Accessible toilets can be found at Brussels-Central station.
If you have any questions or tips about the accessibility of the event, please contact us by email or phone 0487/101 201 (available mo-di-wo from 9am to 5pm).
DURING THE MARCH
A van drives ahead during the March. Behind the car will follow the banners of the March, then the activists with red and black shirts and the action material. The action material will be distributed just before the march. You are welcome to make your own action material, if it is not hateful.
About 20 of our stewards (in the yellow vests with ‘animal crime unit’) will accompany the March, together with the police. If you have any questions: speak to the stewards. We are walking in Brussels, among traffic, so please stay together and respect traffic. Do not deviate from the route of the March and follow the directives of our stewards.
The March is a peaceful protest. Bite Back does not condone any form of hatred or violence. Do not respond to provocations from bystanders, do not target individual companies or people. We stand for the abolition of the entire system of animal exploitation!
